I worked for Intermedia in Sydney, Australia at the turn of the century. We were doing an early business to business (wholesale to retail) ecommerce ordering website for 3 key industries: children's toys, beatuy products and household giftwares. Unfortunately we were trying to do it with Cold Fusion which was like a failed great grandad of PHP, and for incompatible browsers that were not very advanced at the time. We made costomizable profile pages (we called them websites) for the wholesalers and retailers too had profiles they could use to order things. We were a hair away from making an actual social media site, but didn't quite get there. In retrospect we were being radical for the time, and a little ahead of what could be done reliably with the tech tools at hand. They are a great company that does a lot with not so many people and they likely still are a quarter century later. We had some trouble with a couple of homphobic techs we hired from England who were full of themselves and embezzling company time, but they didn't last long! It was a good shop and probably still is. I should go to Sydney and visit!
