I produced the music video for "A Miracle" by the Hidden Cameras (4 min, 2001, Super-8), a gay folk church music ensemble that performs catchy music with wickedly penetrating poetic lyrics by band leader Joel Gibb. The video repurposed Super-8 footage that I had originally shot at my penthouse apartment at 606 Yonge Street for the 1987 Filmer's Almanac.
The 1987 Film-maker's Almanac in which 365 artists worldwide made a short film each for each day of the year. Solitude was one of the selected Almanac films that exhibited in cities around the world. Karl Calhoun plays me doing my morning ritual at my bohemian pad at 606 Yonge Street. I had single-handedly renovated the neglected 1880's flat in my own radical deco mid-Century style and had made a door in the skylight and created a roof garden where I hosted a few great parties. I loved that place. Everything but the building facade has been demolished to make way for a Royal Bank branch and yet more overpriced shoebox condos.
